چکیده
We present a case of an 82-year-old male patient with history severe mitral regurgitation, aortic chronic atrial fibrillation, and suicide attempts due to depression. The underwent valvuloplasty valve replacement for regurgitation regurgitation. was extubated on the morning sixth postoperative day, but he reintubated in evening because hypotension unstable respiratory status. Echocardiography revealed Takotsubo cardiomyopathy development, treated intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) implantation, which removed day 11.

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy after elective mitral valve replacement.
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is a syndrome characterized by transient acute left ventricular dysfunction, electrocardiographic changes that can mimic acute myocardial infarction and minimal release of myocardial enzymes in the absence of obstructive coronary artery disease. Reports of Takotsubo syndrome after cardiac surgery are exceptional. We describe a case of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy in a 68-ye...

Here we present the case of a patient with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma who was admitted to hospital for an elective autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplant after cytotoxic treatment with lomustine, cytarabine, cyclophosphomide and etoposide (LACE). On the final day of chemotherapeutic treatment, she developed sudden onset dyspnoea. Electrocardiography confirmed acute antero-lateral T...

LV systolic function, heavily compromised at presentation, improves rapidly in a period of days to weeks w1, 5–7x. Reports of Takotsubo syndrome after open cardiac surgery are few. It is possible that some cases of transient LV sphericalization after mitral valve replacement surgery described previously to the recognition of this phenomenon were cases of Takotsubo syndrome w2x. It is important ...

INTRODUCTION Stress-induced (Takotsubo) cardiomyopathy is a rare form of cardiomyopathy which presents in a manner similar to that of acute coronary syndrome. This sometimes leads to unnecessary thrombolysis therapy. The pathogenesis of this disease is still poorly understood. We believe that reporting all cases of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy will contribute to a better understanding of this disea...

To the Editor:—I enjoyed reading the case report about Takotsubo cardiomyopathy after general anesthesia by Gavish et al. in the September 2006 issue of ANESTHESIOLOGY. It is noteworthy that another case report of postoperative Takotsubo-like left ventricular dysfunction that occurred in France was published in the same month in the September 2006 issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia and was accompa...
